【兴大报告686】Metal-organic Frameworks for the Development of Functional Materials

Abstract

The lecture will highlight some of the results of research conducted at Nikolaev Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk on chemical design, synthesis and study of functional properties of metal-organic frameworks. The results of the studies will be covered that made it possible 1) to obtain families of homochiral porous frameworks for enantioselective separation; 2) to develop methods for immobilizing polyometalates in stable mesoporous frameworks for selective oxidation catalysis;  3)  to propose a new approach for obtaining materials with high proton conductivity;  4)  to develop highly efficient sorbents for separation of substances with similar properties;  5)  to obtain series of luminescent materials for highly selective and highly sensitive determination of a number of hazardous/harmful compounds in the environment.

Biography

Prof. Dr. Vladimir P. Fedin earned his MS and PhD degrees from Moscow State University. He spent several years abroad in the laboratories of Professor Achim Müller (AvH Fellowship), Professor Taro Saito (JSPS Fellowship) and Professor A.G. Sykes (Royal Society Kapitza Fellowship). His permanent position is at Nikolaev Institute of Inorganic Chemistry where he served as director for 15 years (2004-2019). He is currently a chief researcher at this Institute. He is also the head of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at Novosibirsk State University. Since 2011, he has been elected a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He received the Chugaev Prize of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2015, and in 2023, the title of Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation.
